In football, every transfer affects the fight for the championship. The January transfer window is often quiet, and teams are inactive on the market during the winter. Mid-season moves are always a risk. The clubs already have their squads, and no one wants to change the team structure or risk losing key players. And if suddenly there is a desire to change something, it is usually difficult to find a quality player whom the club will be ready to release in January. But despite this, there are bright transfers at the beginning of the year. They’re rare, but they’re always fun to fantasize about. What trades could change the game this winter?

Any transfer affects the strength of the team the player leaves and joins. This largely affects bookmakers’ odds in the fight for prizes and survival. Most bets accept bets on various football events, and considering new transfers, players can bet with good odds. By the way, for gambling lovers, Mostbet casino operates. However, in this article, we will not talk about gambling but will look at the most high-profile potential football transfers that could be completed as early as January of this year.

Kylian Mbappe: from PSG to Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappe’s contract with PSG is ending, and there are no clear signs that he intends to renew it. Sources say the 25-year-old is keen to join Real Madrid but wants to do so with respect for his current club. This means that Mbappe has no intention of leaving Paris for free, and January will be the decisive moment for PSG to sell him for money. However, there is still a chance for a contract extension if the parties can agree on a reasonable compensation amount.

Real Madrid is expected to offer Mbappe a preliminary agreement for a summer move this winter and will give the Frenchman 15 days to think it over. However, the option of his transfer as early as January, possibly for 80 million euros, is also not excluded. This decision will rewrite the rules of the game not only for both clubs but also for their championships for the rest of the season. It is an incredibly exciting turn of events, with football fans holding their breath and awaiting developments in the coming months.

Joshua Kimmich: from Bayern to Manchester City

City is in need of a new midfielder, and Joshua Kimmich seems like the right option, especially with Pep Guardiola no longer counting on Kalvin Phillips.

While Kimmich’s playing style doesn’t quite match Tuchel’s approach at Bayern, he is still one of the best all-round midfielders in the world. Guardiola values players who can confidently take on different positions and maintain a high level of play.

Kimmich’s move will force Bayern to look for a replacement actively. The list of potential candidates includes Fulham’s Joao Palhinho, Tottenham’s Eric Dier, Nice’s Kefren Thuram, Nottingham Forest’s Ibrahim Sangar,é, and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Kouadio Kone.

Victor Osimhen: from Napoli to Chelsea

The Blues have spent over a billion pounds in recent transfer windows, so another big sum would not be surprising. The team spends much money but still needs a reliable center forward. One potential option is the 24-year-old striker from Napoli, who helped the team win the Serie A gold medal last season with his goals. Napoli are far from such heights, and differences have begun to arise between Osimhen and the club. A move to Chelsea would help strengthen the attacking line, but the Nigerian has extended his contract with his current team until 2026, which creates additional difficulties for a possible transfer.

Mohamed Salah: from Liverpool to Al Ittihad

Al Ittihad ranks low in the Saudi Arabian league, but acquiring a talent like Salah would help turn things around. In the summer, the Saudi club offered £150 million for the Egyptian forward, but Liverpool refused. Selling their mid-season leader seems unwise for the Reds, who are fighting for the title this season. However, what if Al Ittihad upped the bid to, say, £200 million? Can Liverpool refuse?

In addition, it is important to consider Salah’s opinion. While the 31-year-old winger has shown loyalty to Liverpool, many stars, including his former team-mates, have been lured by cash offers from Saudi Arabia. Salah’s departure in January will cause a chain reaction as Liverpool urgently need a replacement. Possible candidates include Borussia Dortmund’s Malen, Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane, and Barcelona’s Ferran Torres.
