It’s a day ending in Y, and you know what that means – it’s time to start talking about which NFL coaches are feeling the heat. Yep, that’s right, we’re diving into the juicy topic of NFL coaches on the hot seat for 2024. Now, I know what you’re thinking, “Why should I care about some overpaid coach’s job security?” But let me tell you, my friend, when it comes to betting on the NFL, this stuff matters.

Underdogs Rising: How Lower Seeds Are Shaping The 2025 NBA Playoffs

May 6, 2025

You see, a coach on the hot seat is like a ticking time bomb. They’re desperate to prove themselves, to show the world that they’ve got what it takes to lead their team to victory. And that desperation can translate into some pretty crazy decisions on the field. Maybe they’ll take a few more risks, roll the dice on a fourth-down conversion, or call a play that no one sees coming. And when you’re trying to predict the outcome of a game, that kind of unpredictability can be a real game-changer.

NFL Coaches On The Hot Seat 2024

This year, the list of coaches on the hot seat is longer than a Hail Mary pass, and the clock is ticking. From underperforming teams to controversial decisions, there’s plenty of blame to go around. I can’t wait to break down who’s feeling the heat and why. And if you’re thinking about placing some bets, keep an eye on how these coaching dramas unfold because it could impact the odds significantly. So, let’s dive in and see which coaches are in the hot seat for 2024. You won’t want to miss this rollercoaster!

Scorching Seats: Coaches on the Brink

Mike McCarthy – Dallas Cowboys

I’ve been calling this firing for a long time now, and maybe, just maybe, in 2024, my NFL prediction actually comes true. McCarthy’s tenure with the Dallas Cowboys has been a mixed bag. Despite leading the team to three consecutive 12-5 seasons, his playoff record of 1-3 has left much to be desired. The Cowboys’ inability to advance deep into the playoffs has put McCarthy under intense scrutiny. With Jerry Jones’ high expectations and the Cowboys’ storied history, McCarthy’s seat is scorching hot. Another early playoff exit could spell the end of his time in Dallas.

Nick Sirianni – Philadelphia Eagles

Nick Sirianni’s Philadelphia Eagles had a puzzling late-season collapse in 2023, finishing 11-6 after a strong start.

Despite making the playoffs, the Eagles’ performance down the stretch and Sirianni’s decision to demote his defensive coordinator mid-season have raised questions about his leadership. If the Eagles struggle again in 2024, Sirianni could find himself out of a job.

Matt Eberflus – Chicago Bears

Matt Eberflus has struggled to turn the Chicago Bears into a competitive team, posting a 10-24 record over two seasons. Despite a late-season surge in 2023, the Bears’ overall performance has been underwhelming. With a revamped roster led by rookie generational talent Caleb Williams at quarterback and very high expectations for 2024, Eberflus needs to deliver results quickly to avoid being shown the door.

Dennis Allen – New Orleans Saints

Dennis Allen’s tenure with the New Orleans Saints has been underwhelming. With a talented roster and high expectations, the Saints’ front office might decide to make a change if the team doesn’t perform up to standards. Allen’s job is on the line, and a slow start could lead to his dismissal.

Jonathan Gannon – Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals have struggled to find consistency under head coach Jonathan Gannon. With a talented roster that includes quarterback Kyler Murray, the expectations are high. If the Cardinals miss the playoffs again in 2024, the front office could look for a new leader to maximize the team’s potential.

Robert Saleh – New York Jets

This, as a faithful New York Jets fan, pains me to admit in a way, but unless head coach Robert Saleh is able to turn the boat around as soon as possible at MetLife Stadium, his best bet is to start looking for some boxes to clear out his office. The Jets have shown flashes of promise under head coach Saleh, but the results have been mixed. And with a healthy Aaron Rodgers, starting a losing season is NOT an option. With a passionate fan base and a demanding media market, the pressure is always high in New York. If the Jets fail to make the playoffs in 2024, Saleh’s job could be in jeopardy.

NFL Coaches with Complete Job Security in 2024

Andy Reid – Kansas City Chiefs

Andy Reid’s job security is as solid as it gets. With two Super Bowl titles and a perennial contender in the Kansas City Chiefs, Reid has built a dynasty.

His innovative offensive schemes and ability to develop talent have made him one of the most respected coaches in the league. As long as Patrick Mahomes is under center, Reid’s job is safe.

Mike Tomlin – Pittsburgh Steelers

Mike Tomlin has never had a losing season in his tenure with the Pittsburgh Steelers, a remarkable feat in today’s NFL. His leadership and ability to adapt have kept the Steelers competitive year after year. Tomlin’s job security is bolstered by his strong relationship with the Rooney family, who value stability and consistency.

Sean McVay – Los Angeles Rams

Despite a challenging 2023 season, Sean McVay’s job with the Los Angeles Rams is secure. McVay led the Rams to a Super Bowl victory in 2022 and has consistently fielded competitive teams. His offensive genius and ability to connect with players make him a valuable asset to the organization. The Rams are committed to McVay for the long haul.

Now It’s All A Waiting Game Until Kick Off

Even with the 2024 NFL season still some time away, I think we can all agree football fans are in for one crazy, entertaining ride starting in Week 1. Between the high-caliber action and the drama when it comes to the head coaching carousel, there will be plenty to talk about week in and week out.
