How You Can Stay Warm and Dry During the Summer

Let’s face it: Summer is coming, and while we are all looking forward to the season, we aren’t really looking forward to being wet and uncomfortable, either. When we spend a day at the beach or pool, it’s easy to get wet – and stay wet. And many of us aren’t too keen on that damp feeling after taking a dip or swimming in the ocean! What makes it worse is that we aren’t too eager to change out of our swimsuits in the car or a crowded bathroom, either. But there are plenty of ways you can stay warm and dry, even during the summer. So what can you do? Let us count the ways.

What You Should Know

We often associate the summer with warm, sunny weather and blue skies, but more often than not, the weather can be unpredictable – and even turn nasty before we know it! Rainstorms, wind, and even cooler temperatures (especially in the UK) can catch you off guard – and leave you feeling damp and cold. Here are some tips to help you feel warmer and cozier even during the summer.

1. Dress in Layers

One of the best ways to stay warm and dry during the summer is to dress in layers. That’s because you never know when the rain might start pouring down, or the temperature might drop. By dressing in layers, you can easily add or remove clothing to adjust to the weather. You can begin with a lightweight, moisture-wicking base layer to keep sweat away from your skin. Then add a middle layer for warmth, like fleece or a light sweater. Lastly, top it with a waterproof or water-resistant jacket to keep the rain out.

Better yet, why not invest in Dry Robes? It’s the latest thing, and it’s been seen on the runways and worn by celebrities! It is designed to give you the best insulation, and you can wear it right away, even after you swim, as confirmed by Dry Robes in Ireland suppliers like The Edge.

2. Choose the Ideal Fabrics

When it comes to staying warm and dry, not all fabrics are created equal. Some fabrics, such as cotton, retain moisture and can leave you feeling damp and cold. Opt instead for fabrics that draw away moisture from the body and are super absorbent, like nylon or merino wool. These fabrics will keep you dry and comfortable even in the wettest weather.

3. Wear Waterproof Shoes

Wet feet can quickly ruin your day, so it’s crucial to wear waterproof shoes. For example, look for shoes made with waterproof materials, like treated leather or Gore-Tex. If you plan on walking or hiking, invest in a good pair of waterproof boots. Don’t forget to bring extra socks in case your feet get wet!

4. Stay Dry From Within

Staying dry during the summer season isn’t just about what you wear – it’s also about what you eat and drink. Stay hydrated with plenty of liquids, and avoid alcohol and caffeine (they can cause more dehydration). Eat warm, comforting food; they can help you feel warmer on cooler days. Stews, soups, and hot beverages such as tea or coffee can warm you up from within.
