Have you ever wondered who spends the most money on gambling games? According to a survey conducted by PXP Financial at the ICE London Expo in 2020, it seems that Millennials are the biggest spenders when it comes to online gambling. Although, it does seem that those who are categorized as Baby Boomers may have them beat overall.

Let’s take a closer look at how each generation compares in terms of their gambling game spending habits.

Millennials Spend Big on Gambling Games

Millennials are the biggest spenders for online gambling, representing 52% of gamblers polled in this survey. On average, millennials are willing to shell out around $1,960 per year on wagering entertainment. This is an impressive number compared to the other generations surveyed. There are a variety of different reasons why this might be the case, too.

For one, those born during this period were the first generation to grow up with the internet. Indeed, many will have used the internet to play at one of the top Gamble Online real money casinos listed as they will have a greater understanding of the technology and how to use digital services compared to those of another generation, although this could change with the emergence of Gen Z who are starting to enter the legal age to wager.

Secondly, millennials are likely to have a greater amount of disposable income as they will be earning and may not necessarily have commitments that those who are older may have. For instance, those in Gen Y may not have a family to provide for, or they may be in a higher-income job than those who are older than them.

Generation X and their Gambling Game Spending Habits

Gen X-ers come in second place when it comes to spending on gambling games, shelling out around $1,560 annually. 59% of Generation X-ers prefer using credit cards when betting on events with uncertain outcomes as opposed to other payment methods, whether it be classic casino games or sports. This shows that Generation X is comfortable taking risks and willing to part with their hard-earned money for leisure activities like gambling games.

Baby Boomers and Their Gambling Game Spending Habits

On average, members of the Baby Boomer generation spend $2,913 per year on wagering entertainment – more than both Millennials and Gen X-ers! In fact, according to this survey, Baby

Boomers were the group of people least likely to use the internet to enjoy a gambling session, with many enjoying more traditional gaming experiences whenever they look to participate in a wagering session.

Final Thoughts

It appears that all generations enjoy playing gambling games – though different generations have different preferences when it comes to how they prefer their gaming experiences delivered (online or offline). Millennials represent the biggest online market share when it comes to spending money on gambling games, while Baby Boomers make up the majority of gamers who prefer playing in person and spending the most annually. Despite these differences in gaming

preferences among generations, one thing remains true: there is no shortage of people who love playing and spending money on casino-style entertainment!
