The average yards per rush can also be looked at as an important statistic too. For example, if a running back has 5 yards per carry but only has 10 carries all game, it could be because he’s getting a lot of yards per carry but isn’t being used enough in the offense.

Who is the fastest running back in the NFL?

There are a few running backs that have been considered as some of the fastest players in NFL history. Emmitt Smith is one of the all-time leaders for single-season rushing yards with 1,773 yards. He also led his team to three Super Bowl titles and was inducted into the Football Hall of Fame in 2010. Two other running backs, Walter Payton and Barry Sanders, have led their team to a Super Bowl title each. Payton had a career average of 5.5 yards per carry which was one of the best stats in NFL history. Lastly, Ladainian Tomlinson is currently seen as the runner with the most rushing touchdowns by any player with 13 scores from 2006-2012.

Curt Warner was a running back for the Seahawks, the Rams and Seahawks again who played from 1983 to 1994. He also played in a number of different leagues on teams outside of the NFL including Italy, Canada and the United States Football League. In college, he started his career at Washington State before transferring to Iowa State.

Dexter Jackson is a running back who played with two teams in his 13-year career that lasted from 1984 to 1996. Playing for Tampa Bay, Jackson scored three touchdowns in one game which is still an NFL record for a single game along with four other players’ records that have been tied since then.
