Throughout the rich history of the NBA, a few teams have transcended greatness and become synonymous with dominance, innovation, and excellence. These squads didn’t just win—they changed the game, captured the imagination of fans, and often defined entire decades. Aside from playing your top NBA slot games at recommended online casinos, here’s a look at the top NBA teams of all time:

1995–96 Chicago Bulls

Arguably the greatest NBA team ever assembled, the 1995–96 Chicago Bulls, led by Michael Jordan, finished the regular season with a then-record 72–10 mark. Coached by Phil Jackson and supported by Scottie Pippen and newly acquired Dennis Rodman, the Bulls dominated both ends of the floor.

Their blend of offensive firepower, defensive intensity, and mental toughness made them nearly unbeatable. They went 15–3 in the playoffs and captured the NBA title, cementing their legacy as one of the most iconic teams in sports history.

2016–17 Golden State Warriors

After an unexpected Finals loss in 2016, the Warriors responded by adding superstar Kevin Durant to a 73-win team, creating a juggernaut. The 2016–17 Warriors, with Durant, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, posted a 67–15 regular-season record and went 16–1 in the playoffs—one of the most dominant postseason runs ever. Their ball movement, three-point shooting, and elite defense redefined modern basketball and created a dynasty that won three titles in four years.

1985–86 Boston Celtics

Led by Larry Bird at the peak of his powers, the 1985–86 Celtics are widely regarded as the best team in franchise history. With Hall of Famers Kevin McHale and Robert Parish anchoring the frontcourt, and Dennis Johnson and Danny Ainge in the backcourt, Boston went 67–15 and an astonishing 40–1 at home.

They stormed through the playoffs and beat the Houston Rockets in the Finals. Their size, skill, and chemistry made them nearly unbeatable, especially on the parquet floor.

1986–87 Los Angeles Lakers

The “Showtime” Lakers reached their zenith in 1986–87, finishing 65–17 and capturing the championship. With Magic Johnson running the offense, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar still dominant at age 39, and James Worthy and Byron Scott providing speed and scoring, this team was a fast-paced, high-IQ machine.

Pat Riley’s squad dazzled with flair but backed it up with execution and grit, defeating their arch-rival Celtics in the NBA Finals and securing their place among the greatest ever.

2000–01 Los Angeles Lakers

Coached by Phil Jackson and powered by the unstoppable duo of Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant, the 2000–01 Lakers are remembered for one of the most dominant playoff runs in history.

Though their regular season (56–26) wasn’t record-breaking, they went 15–1 in the postseason, sweeping three straight rounds before losing just once to the Philadelphia 76ers in the Finals. Shaq was virtually unguardable, and Kobe emerged as a true superstar, marking the height of the Lakers’ early-2000s dynasty.

Honorable Mentions

Aside from the mentioned games above, here are the other matches that shook the NBA world:

  • 1971 Milwaukee Bucks – Led by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Oscar Robertson, they went 66–16 and dominated the playoffs.

  • 2007–08 Boston Celtics – The “Big Three” of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen revived the Celtics and brought home banner 17.
  • 2012–13 Miami Heat – LeBron James at his peak, with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, led the Heat to a 66-win season and a second straight title.

These teams weren’t just champions—they were dominant forces that set new standards for excellence. Whether it was through individual brilliance, team cohesion, revolutionary strategies, or pure intimidation, the top NBA teams of all time have left legacies that continue to influence how the game is played and appreciated today, even at recommended online casinos.
