PS5 and Astro Bot
Sony has released sales figures for the PlayStation 5 and its popular platformer Astro Bot. As of September 30, the total number of PS5 units shipped reached 65.5 million, with 3.8 million units shipped in the last quarter. This is down significantly from last year’s 4.9 million units shipped in the same period.
PS4 and PS5 game sales totaled 77.7 million copies in the quarter, up 10.1 million from last year. Of those, 5.3 million were Sony exclusives. The share of digital game sales reached 70%, up 3% year-on-year but down 10% from the previous quarter.
Team Asobi’s Astro Bot, released on September 6, is also showing impressive results, selling over 1.5 million copies in nine weeks. The platformer has received high marks from critics and became the highest-rated game of 2024 according to Metacritic.
Players can explore dozens of levels and rescue over 300 bots, and the playthrough time is about 12-15 hours. Team Asobi continues to support the game, adding free speedrun levels and new bots, including heroes from Stellar Blade and Helldivers. The final level will be released on November 14.
The monthly active users of the PlayStation Network are stable at 116 million, which is up from last year’s figure of 107 million.
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered
Nixxes has released the first patch for Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered on PC. It includes several bug fixes and performance and stability improvements.
According to the patch notes, Patch 1.1 fixes a crash that could occur for some players when using keyboard and mouse controls. It also fixes a bug where shadows in Meridian could disappear or flicker when using ultrawide resolutions. Also, a bug where the bow could “float” in the air during a cinematic.
Pre-rendered cutscenes now match gameplay volume, and there are general performance and stability improvements. Nixxes didn’t share any details, so don’t expect any significant changes in this regard.
The PC version of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is already in a fairly stable state. It does require a PSN account to play, and Nixxes has no plans to remove that requirement.
As usual, the patch will be automatically downloaded to Steam the next time you launch the client.
Cities: Skylines 2
The inhabitants of Cities: Skylines 2 either have no idea how to use parking or are conspiring to drive players crazy. Players spend hours laying out roads, creating bus lanes, and meticulously checking heat maps to keep traffic flowing. But they still insist on parking on the side of the road. One day, a solution will be found, but until then, you can calm your nerves in Parking World, a new strategy game that focuses on parking.
It all starts simply. You have an empty lot and a few fences. Find a good spot, and set low prices. Provide minimal amenities, and soon you’ll be able to create the parking lot of your dreams. Parking World is a detailed simulator where every little detail matters. You need to make sure the water and electricity are running smoothly and install enough cash registers to avoid queues. There should be plenty of spaces for cars, but if they’re too cramped, your rating will drop.
The game requires careful planning and a strategic approach. From hiring employees and maintaining cleanliness to paying taxes and choosing the right vending machines, Parking World covers every possible aspect of parking management. The game also features scenarios and quests. You need to build the perfect parking lot for big events like a shopping mall opening or a football match.
And the best part is that Parking World is already available on Steam.
Cyberpunk 2077
Modder Dark Fortune Teller has released an impressive mod for Cyberpunk 2077 called Dark Future. This mod will completely change your perception of the game from CDPR. It adds elements of urban survival, new gameplay mechanics, and deeper immersion.
Dark Future adds such aspects as basic needs, injuries, and addiction. For example, now you will have to monitor the level of dehydration, energy, and nutrition of the character.
The main mechanic of Dark Future is called “Nerve”. This is an indicator of calm and composure. When the Nerve level is low, breathing becomes rapid, hands shake when aiming, and stamina recovers more slowly. If the Nerve drops to zero, the character dies of a heart attack, so you will have to carefully monitor this parameter.
Nerve decreases quickly in stressful situations. It can be restored by doing relaxing activities such as dancing, relaxing with a romantic partner, or consuming certain substances.
The Dark Future mod adds four basic needs: Nerve, Hydration, Nutrition, and Energy. They appear as indicators under the health and stamina bars on the HUD screen and appear as needed.
