If you read on, I will tell you how he went from being overlooked to becoming drafted 6th by Portland and achieving success as both an athlete and a scholar.

Damian Lillard was born and raised in Oakland

Before he became an NBA player, he attended college at Weber State, where he completed his degree in general studies. After graduating, he went through the NBA draft process of 2011. Throughout the draft process, Lillard remained undervalued by many of the top NCAA teams which is why he was drafted 6th by Portland.

Success never stopped for Lillard who continued to be an excellent student while putting up stellar performances on the court as one of the best players in the world today! How did he adjust to life at school in Utah?

Lillard had to adjust to life at school in Utah, where the culture was different than what he was used to in Oakland. He also had to compete against top players who were being recruited by some of the biggest schools in the country. Despite these challenges, Lillard managed to become one of the best players in Weber State history.

After graduating from Weber State with a degree in business administration and marketing, he was drafted into the NBA by the Portland Trail Blazers.

What happened in 2012?

In 2012, the new reigning Rookie of the Year won All-Star Weekend’s Rising Stars competition as well as Skills Challenge event of 2012.

He is currently playing for the Portland Trail Blazers as their starting point guard.

Conclusion

About the above content Damian Lillard is more than an athlete. He has also proven himself to be an excellent student who graduated from college with a degree in general studies and marketing at Weber State University before being drafted 6th by the Portland Trail Blazers. Now, he’s one of the best players in the world today–and still gives back to Oakland through his 2nd Rounds event that engages young people in activities like leadership development, healthy living, and educational opportunities.

As someone who was overlooked throughout much of high school because he played for Southern California AAU team rather than the prestigious NorCal teams or nationally recognized powerhouse schools such as UCLA or Duke, Damian Lillard could have easily given up on his dream but instead found success while staying true to himself.
