Dwight Howard has the second-most blocks in NBA history to go along with his 5 Defensive Player of the Year  Awards, plus his five All-Star appearances. He’s one of the most feared Centers in the league to guard because he can overload you on offense and defense, block shots, grab rebounds, and score. He’s also one of the best Centers at defending outside the paint. Dwight Howard also knows how to play off other big men by getting them easy buckets or setting screens for other players on offense.

How Dwight Howard’s career started

Dwight Howard was born in 1985 in Atlanta, Georgia to Dwight Sr. and Sheryl Howard. His mother is a Jehovah’s Witness while his father is a southern baptist. Growing up, he didn’t have a lot of money growing up but he had a lot of support from family and friends. Dwight grew up with a love for basketball and by age 14 he was already an MVP on his high school team.

He attended Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy from 2000 to 2003 where he played basketball and graduated early. In 2004, he enrolled at the University of Georgia on an athletic scholarship for Men’s Basketball where he majored in Sociology with a minor in African American Studies.

Dwight Howard also has multiple rings. Currently he has two, but he may end up with three this year. He is the only player in NBA history to have won championships at two different positions: center and power forward. This has never been achieved before.
